Mars Class Reception Year

Welcome to Mars Class, Mrs Lewis is our class teacher supported by Mrs Maddocks.

Mrs Lewis has worked with children for many years and enjoys nurturing and watching the rapid progression of children in the foundation stage and getting to know new parents aswell as families who are already part of our school family. Mrs Maddocks is the Learning Support Assistant (LSA) in Mars Class and works very closely with Mrs Lewis. Mrs Maddocks is a new addition to our team and we look forward to her support in Mars Class.
In Mars Class we follow a creative and immersive curriculum to achieve the Early Learning Goals. We have lots of fun and learning in our indoor/outdoor classroom. We enjoy the school grounds and the local vicinity on our Fresh Air Fridays where we are able to appreciate our beautiful world.

Our Topic for this Summer Term is Mini-Beasts & Mini-Worlds, learning about mini-beasts and their environments.

As artists we will paint and use collage of mini-beasts in the style of Matisse as well as having the opportunity to work with clay and create models.
We will go on mini-beast adventures in the school garden and the local community during our Fresh Air Friday walks and look at mini-beasts in other parts of the world, including the jungle and deserts and how they survive.

For more information on this terms learning please take a look at our 'Mini-Beasts' document below.

What we have learnt this week!
"This week we had an important job to do for Mrs Lewis. We went on a mini-beast hunt with Mrs Ward and Reverend Mark. We went all round the school grounds and found ants, worms, a slug, a spider, a beetle and a woodlouse. In English I wrote about my rabbit. Some people wrote eight whole sentences!" Amelie
