Crucial Crew
This week our year 6's attended the annual Crucial Crew at AFC Sudbury. The event is a series of activities aimed at giving children essential life skills as they prepare for a more independent life as they move forward onto Upper School. The day started with a session delivered by Suffolk Police about online safety, followed by water safety (rivers and open bodies of water), drug and alcohol misuse, how to make a 999 call, a bullying drama session (delivered by drama students from TGS), fire safety with a mock up bedroom and pretend fire with Fire-Safety Officers and finally concluded with Sun Safety and how to keep yourself healthy in hotter conditions.
"We learned so much, for the fire-safety bit we went in a kind of caravan that was made to look like a bedroom, which had fake smoke in it. We learned how to identify fire hazards, how to get help and how to get out safely." - Dan
It was a great afternoon and the children represented themselves and the school  impeccably. The activities, although serious, were fun and informative and a lot was learned by all. I for one had a great time accompanying the children in their groups.
