Mars Class Reception Year
Welcome to Mars Class, Mrs Lewis is our class teacher supported by Mrs Byford.
Mrs Lewis has worked with children for many years and enjoys nurturing and watching the rapid progression of children in the foundation stage and getting to know new parents and families who are already part of our school family. Mrs Byford is the Learning Support Assistant (LSA) in Mars Class and works very closely with Mrs Lewis. She is a valuable and long standing member of the school team. In Mars Class we follow a creative and immersive curriculum to achieve the Early Learning Goals. We have lots of fun and learning in our indoor/outdoor classroom. We enjoy the school grounds and the local vicinity on our Fresh Air Fridays where we are able to appreciate our beautiful world.
Our Topic for the Summer term is Mini-Beasts & Mini-World, we will be finding out about creepy crawlies, insects that fly and life cycles of butterflies and frogs. This will include lots of time exploring outdoors on our mini-beast hunts and bringing them back to our 'laboratory' to take a closer look at them with our magnifying glasses. No mini-beast will be harmed during our 'hunts' and they will all be returned to the 'wild' after closer inspection.
In RE this half term we will be looking at 'How we care for our wonderful world', our collective worship themes are 'Perseverance & Peace'.
Please take time to read our Summer term newsletter below for more information on our learning and activities throughout this coming term.
Please ensure that your child has a coat and suitable footwear everyday, even though we look forward to warmer days the weather is notoriously unpredictable so a raincoat of some description is essential especially for our Fresh Air Fridays, where we will be outdoors in all weathers. As the summer approaches a named sunhat and sunscreen (applied at home) are a necessity.
Lunch for Reception and Year 1 is free, a hot lunch or packed lunch is available daily. Further Information on Free meals and lunch menus is available on our website under the Information tab - School lunches.
