Monthly Updates

December 2023
It's been a busy few weeks preparing for the festive events, just the school disco left to go on Monday (18th December).
The Wreath making workshop which was held in the village hall on Wednesday, 6th December, raised a fantastic £233.75, a BIG thank you to all that attended this popular event.
Just a small reminder that raffle tickets/books need to be handed in no later than Monday to the school office or Louise King. If you have any that are unwanted please also return these so they can be used for future events.
We sincerely hope that the children enjoyed all the activities that the PTFA have organised, the Craft session and a visit from the Man In Red himself, I know the children were very excited.

I would like to say a MASSIVE thank you to all members of the PTFA for helping out, with a special thank you to Tracy Knight, Alice Iveson, Hannah Griffiths and Marianna for making the craft session possible, for Tracy and Alice for being the most glamorous elves and helping hand out gifts from Santa and finally to all the helpers that will make sure the disco runs smoothly on Monday.

Finally on behalf of myself, and the rest of the PTFA we would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and Best Wishes for 2024.

October 2023
Thank you to everyone who attend the AGM last week, you can find the Minutes and Chairs Report on our AGM page.
We are actively seeking new members to help with the fundraising events for the school, if anyone is interested please contact our Chair: Louise King at cavendishceprimaryptfa@gmail.com. Any amount of time you are able to give is always welcome.

Our aim this year is to raise funds for a new Pagoda in the school playground, with this in mind we will be running various events throughout the school year.

We will be shortly organising a school Disco, (everyone's fav) for all the children to enjoy. More details to follow.

Christmas Wreath making is back by popular demand, please see the poster for further info on our Events page. Regular updates will be made with information of fundraising events and requests of help needed.

We would like to thank you, in advance, for your support and a special thank you to all the Parents and helpers that have supported the PTFA to make these events possible.

Many Thanks
Louise King (Chair)

June 2023
A huge thanks again to all who helped prepare, plan and run the Strawberry Fayre before half-term. Your efforts were hugely appreciated by the whole school community. We were lucky to receive some great bottle/soft toy donations from the village community and the school community for our two Tombola's, so thank you to those who helped collect and ticket these plus also those who helped to set up/run stalls, plan the raffle and generally help out. We were delighted to raise even more funds this year and the children who attended seemed to have a lot of fun. We would love to welcome new PTFA members to help us plan future events so please contact our chair, Louise King, (details on our Welcome page) if you would like to help us out in the future. Thank You.

May 2023
Raffle tickets are now on sale for our Strawberry Fayre raffle, which will be drawn at the Fayre on Friday 26th May 2023 (although you don't have to attend the fete in order to have your prize honoured). We have secured some fantastic prizes again from so many supportive local businesses, such as a Gainsborough Spa Day voucher for 2, a Cream Tea for 2 from Tea on the Green, tickets to see The Wonderful Wizard of Oz at The Theatre Royal and a Willow Tree Farm Shop/Café voucher, to mention a few, plus many more. You will find raffle tickets, as well as a letter detailing how to buy or return these tickets, in your child's bookbag this week. Extra raffle tickets are now on sale at the 'Duck & Grouse' village shop. Please do help us raise funds to buy new educational experiences and equipment for your children by selling these to your family and friends. Thank-You. We are now also collecting unopened bottles (alcohol, non-alcoholic drinks, toiletries, sauces etc.) and pre-loved soft toys for our two Tombola's so please have a root around at home and see what you can donate. All donations can be given to your class representatives at drop off/pick up. If you are unsure who to donate to drop us an e-mail for more details. (Email on our Welcome page)
We also need some more help with setting up and/or hosting a stall. If you or a grandparent can help - even if just for an hour -  then please let us know.
Finally a Big thank-you to Karen Vatter, Cavendish's resident Yoga Teacher, for her kind sponsorship of our school library this month in May, resulting in a new bundle of books for the school library. Very much appreciated!

April 2023
Following some recent PTFA meetings, planning is underway for our Summer Fete on May 26th. We do need some more volunteers to help set up and/or host some traditional stalls and games on the day. If you, your partner or a grandparent can spare the time that day, please let our Chair, Louise King, know. Thank You. We will also soon be collecting unopened bottles for the Tombola, at the Fete, alcohol/soft-drinks/sauces/beauty products etc. if you could please check your cupboards (or relatives cupboards...) for anything you can spare. Charlotte Halsall (Mars) will kindly be collecting these during morning drop-offs.

We believe Mars Class are still on the lookout for a new Fresh Air Friday Volunteer - please contact the school directly if you feel you may be able to help and we (PTFA) are also still on the hunt for a new Treasurer, if you or a partner, can help, please contact Louise (Chair).

Many Thanks for all of your support.

March 2023
We do hope your little ones were egg-cited by the PTFA Easter bunny visit this week. Chocolate eggs galore! Thank you to those who helped with this lovely annual event.

Following some recent PTFA meetings, planning is underway for our summer fete on 26th May. We do need a few more volunteers to help set up and/or host some traditional stalls and games on the day. If you, your partner or a grandparent can spare the time that day, please let our Chair Louise King know. We will also soon be collecting unopened bottles for the tombola at the summer fete (alcohol, soft drinks, sauces, beauty products etc) so perhaps over the holidays you could please check your cupboards (or relatives’ cupboards!) for anything you can spare! Charlotte Halsall (Mars) will be kindly collecting these after Easter during morning drop-offs.

A big thank you to David Burr Clare for sponsoring our library this month and to Rosehip Hair Design for April’s library sponsorship, resulting in a bag of new books being delivered to the school library, alongside additional ‘World Book Day’ surplus books which were kindly donated by Harris and Harris in Clare.

Finally, we understand that Mars class would love an additional ‘Fresh Air Friday’ volunteer - please get in touch with the school directly if you can help.

We are still on the hunt for a new Treasurer, if you (or your partner) can help, please contact our Chair, Louise King, on 07789 990894. Many thanks and Happy Easter!

Feb 2023
We have been busy planning events and surprises for the children for the months ahead. The Summer fete will take place, 26th May, after the Annual Dance Festival, to which the village community will also be invited. More details to follow, but please save the date!
As in previous years we also have an Easter Egg Hunt planned for the children, during school time, which is always a lot of fun.
Unfortunately, this year, the 100 club didn't have enough uptake so we have decided to cancel it and we will be in contact with those of you who did sign up, with a view to try again next year.
As it is the school's 160th anniversary, and given that the school's focus this year is on boosting a love of reading, our mission is to increase the school's library stock. We plan to fundraise to help buy books from wish lists that have been carefully curated by the school.
As well as holding the Summer Fete to raise funds we are also looking for individual, families or local businesses for donations. If you would like to contribute please contact our chair, Louise King. Alternatively you could donate the cost of a book, which would also be extremely appreciated. We have teamed up with Harris & Harris bookshop in Clare who have copies of the school's book wish lists and are happy to source good condition second-hand copies as well as new copies for us. Just pop in or call them (01787 277267) and they will advise of a suitable book to purchase from the wish list and take payment, we will then arrange collection. This will help avoid duplicate copies and make it as easy as possible to donate, all the while supporting a local business.
If you prefer to donate your time then please consider joining us on the PTFA committee.
Finally we are in the throes of deciding how to spend additional funds, raised by these events, organised by the PTFA. Please complete our online questionnaire below.
