Outdoor Learning

“Our curriculum is designed to be experienced — enabling children to know more, remember more and do more.”

A distinctive feature of our school is our commitment to weekly, curriculum-led outdoor learning for every child from EYFS to Year 6.

This is not an occasional enrichment activity; it is a planned and protected part of our curriculum. Each session is carefully designed to deepen knowledge and strengthen skills across history, geography, science, art, design technology, writing and mathematics.

Children apply what they have been taught in meaningful, real-world contexts. They measure and solve problems at scale, carry out scientific investigations in authentic environments, explore our local area to bring history and geography to life, and design and create with clear purpose. By revisiting and applying learning in practical ways, pupils secure knowledge more effectively and make stronger connections across subjects.

Our school grounds and local community are used intentionally to enhance the curriculum we already offer, ensuring learning is active, memorable and ambitious. This weekly entitlement is a key part of our commitment to providing a broad, balanced and high-quality education for all. Practical application is not an addition to our curriculum — it is how we secure it.
