Robins

Welcome to Robins Class

Robins Class is our Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 class, led by Mrs Pryce-Hall.

Robins is a warm, nurturing and purposeful place where our youngest children are supported to settle into school life, grow in confidence and develop a genuine love of learning.

Our school vision of “We Learn. We Love. We Belong.” is at the heart of everything we do. We want every child to feel safe, valued and known, while developing the independence, curiosity and resilience they need as they begin their journey through school.

Children in Reception learn through a carefully planned balance of adult-led teaching, play and continuous provision, both indoors and outdoors. Our provision is designed to encourage children to explore, investigate, communicate, create and solve problems, while developing the knowledge and skills set out in the Early Years Foundation Stage.

As children move through Years 1 and 2, learning becomes increasingly structured while continuing to build on the practical, active approach established in Reception. Our mixed-age classroom allows children to learn alongside one another, work collaboratively and develop confidence at their own stage of learning.

Early reading is a key priority in Robins. We use Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised to teach phonics systematically, giving children the skills they need to become confident and fluent readers. Children enjoy carefully matched reading books alongside a wide range of high-quality stories, poems and non-fiction texts that help develop vocabulary and a love of books.

Children also develop strong foundations in writing and mathematics through carefully sequenced teaching, practical activities and opportunities to apply their learning throughout the classroom environment.

Alongside the core curriculum, Robins enjoy science, history, geography, RE, art, design and technology, computing, music, PE and PSHE, with opportunities to learn outdoors and make full use of our school grounds.

We value strong relationships with families and recognise just how important the first years of school are. By working together, we aim to ensure that every Robin feels happy, confident and proud of what they can achieve.

Above all, Robins is a place where children can explore, discover, grow and belong.
