At Cavendish CE Primary School, we are proud to be an inclusive school where every child is known, valued and supported.
Our vision, “We Learn, We Love, We Belong,” is at the heart of our approach to SEND. We believe that every child is unique and capable of success. We work closely with children, parents, carers and outside professionals to identify needs early and provide the right support.

How we support children with SEND
We use a graduated approach of:
Assess – Plan – Do – Review
This means we identify a child’s needs, plan appropriate support, put this support in place and regularly review how well it is working.
Support may include:
- high-quality teaching and adapted classroom practice
- visual timetables, now/next boards and clear routines
- additional processing time and chunked instructions
- scaffolds such as word banks, writing frames and sentence stems
- small-group literacy or maths interventions
- phonics catch-up or Rapid Catch-Up support
- pre-teaching and post-teaching
- precision teaching
- sensory breaks and regulation support
- ELSA and pastoral support
- transition support
- advice from external professionals, where needed
Where children have more complex needs, support may include individual provision plans, specialist advice, EHCP provision, individual healthcare plans, risk assessments or multi-agency working.
Working with families
We value strong relationships with parents and carers. As a small school, we know our children and families well, and we encourage families to speak to us early if they have any worries.
We communicate through informal conversations, parent meetings, SEND reviews, emails, phone calls and multi-agency meetings where appropriate.
External support
Where needed, we work with a range of services, including Speech and Language Therapy, Specialist Education Services, the School Nursing Service, Educational Psychology and other professionals linked to a child’s individual needs.
