Welcome to Wrens Class
Wrens Class is our Year 3 and Year 4 class, led by Miss Lockyear.
In Wrens, we want every child to feel happy, confident and excited about their learning. As children move further into Key Stage 2, we support them to become increasingly independent, resilient and curious, while ensuring they continue to feel safe, valued and part of our close school community.
Our school vision of “We Learn. We Love. We Belong.” is at the heart of life in Wrens. We encourage children to work hard, be kind, ask questions, take pride in their achievements and recognise that mistakes are an important part of learning.
Throughout the week, children enjoy a broad and ambitious curriculum. Alongside daily English, reading, spelling and mathematics, they explore science, history, geography, RE, computing, art, design and technology, music, French, PE and PSHE. Learning is carefully planned to make sure that children build their knowledge and skills as they progress through Years 3 and 4.
Reading continues to be an important part of every day. Children encounter a range of high-quality and increasingly ambitious texts, developing their fluency, vocabulary, comprehension and, most importantly, their enjoyment of reading.
We make the most of the wonderful environment around our school too. Outdoor learning, our school grounds and opportunities for practical, creative and collaborative learning help children see that learning extends far beyond the classroom.
In Wrens, we have high expectations of what every child can achieve, while recognising that children develop in different ways and at different rates. Through strong relationships between school and home, we aim to ensure that every Wren feels known, supported and proud of their progress.
Most importantly, Wrens is a class where children are encouraged to learn with confidence, care for one another and know that they belong.
